Girls Night Out

About once a month we have a movie night for girls only. Our wonderful hostess is Margo...

She chooses a theme and we bring food/snacks to munch on. Last Friday night we had a "dip" night. Food included anything we could dip. Fruit in white chocolate, layered taco dip, spinach dip, sun dried tomato dip, bruschetta, etc. It was all so  yummy!

My daughters weren't too happy with me for snapping this picture without notice.....

so I gave them a chance to pose...

The movie on the big screen was my favorite "Pride and Prejudice" (the second half of the long version),

Margo makes the best popcorn in her fancy open kettle popper. This time we were too full to have any, but I'm sure we will pop some next time!

Thinking Spring

My  mom was sick earlier this month and received some flowers to cheer her up. The colors matched the quilt blocks I had been sewing, so I took a picture of the flowers displayed on the blocks.

Now the quilt is finished and looks lovely without the vase of flowers sitting on them! Doesn't this make you think of spring?!

Another reminder of spring is the start of baseball. I bought a new bag pattern and wanted to try it out. Shawna said she needed a bag to carry stuff to baseball games this summer, so I used leftover baseball fabric from Michael's quilt and made this bag. Notice the buttons up close!

I've had enough of the cold and snow... bring on the sunshine and heat!

Going Bananas

I attend a block-of-the-month (BOM) quilting group at the Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Harris. It's a fun time to meet with friends, have breakfast, and learn a little about quilting. Our leader (Barb Sauer) gave us a small piece of monkey fabric to create one block. She got back 48 blocks total. It was decided to create 4 quilts to be given to children hospitals. Lynn Wyatt and I took 12 blocks and created the following quilt. Isn't it awesome?!? Who knew monkeys could look so good. A couple of the blocks actually has banana fabric in it. Turned out to be a very fun project.
